Main Reaction
The Bisphenol a BPA synthesis reaction is produced by one molecule of acetone and two molecules of phenol under acidic catalytic conditions. The reaction is exothermic, and water is the main by-product. The reaction uses DOWEX cation exchange resin as a catalyst. This catalyst is obtained after treatment with a promoter and has appropriate selectivity for Bisphenol a BPA synthesis. The phenol/acetone ratio during the reaction is very high, and the reaction is carried out in an adiabatic reactor.
